Grow your own sandalwood trees (Santalum spicatum).

Sandalwood trees are highly valued for the fragrant oils that can be extracted from the heart wood of the tree trunk for use in perfumes and incense.

Like the quandong tree, the sandalwoods are also root parasites. They grow well amongst a diverse ecosystem of established trees and bushes, making them perfect for inclusion in your bio-diverse revegetation project.

Sandalwood nuts are also edible and nutritious. The creamy, soft nuts inside can be eaten raw, roasted or crushed and used in cooking. They contain 38% omega-9 oils, 17% protein, 17% fibre with less than 1% carbohydrates.

As with quandongs, the sandalwood stones are also great for craft projects.
