Who We Are

Welcome to Ni-Ni-Well (pronounced nye nye well). We are a thriving regenerative farm dedicated to cultivating and celebrating local native foods.

Nestled among conventional broad-acre cropping and grazing, Ni-Ni-Well is more than just a farm. It is a commitment to demonstrating the value of biodiversity, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and fostering a deep connection to the land and its heritage.

Our farming practices adapt modern regenerative technologies to develop efficient farming systems while ensuring environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Since 1998, we have proudly grown three indigenous crops that were staples in our region for many, many generations.

Our mission is to reintroduce ancient foods for all Australians to enjoy.

Environmental Stewardship

Our farming methods prioritise the health of the soil, water conservation, and the protection of native wildlife habitats. We use organic practices to nurture our crops without harmful pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilisers, ensuring a balanced and thriving ecosystem.

Cultural Preservation

Our farm aims to reconnect our culture with our natural environment. The Australian continent is home to an exceptionally diverse range of flora and fauna that sustained First Nations people for thousands of years. Until approximately early/mid last century, most Australians lived in the bush, and many included local bush foods in their diet.

The foods we grow at Ni-Ni-Well are not only delicious and nutritious, they were also part of our lives before the arrival of refrigeration, reliable transportation, mechanised agriculture, and urbanisation. By reintroducing these ancient foods into our contemporary and dynamic rural economies, we hope to influence the development of a truly unique Australian cuisine, produced in harmony with our environment.

OUR RECIPES

We acknowledge that our farm is located on the traditional lands of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagalk peoples.

The foods we produce were once important foods sources for these peoples and for many other First Nations people in other regions of Australia.

At Ni-Ni-Well, we recognise that this land was, is, and always will be Aboriginal land.

As a custodian of this land, it is a privilege to honour and respect the Elders past, present, and emerging. We are deeply thankful for the knowledge, wisdom, and care they’ve shown in nurturing this country for generations.

Ni-Ni-Well works with Victoria’s Department of Agriculture (AgVic) to assist First Nations communities and corporations seeking to establish native food production enterprises.
